Description
Hi there,
First of all, congrats with the new bitlbee version, 3.x was REALLY what I was looking forward to for decades. :-)
I've got a feature request though. I noticed that the new setting "nick_format" doesn't apply to manually changed nicks with "rename".
On the IRC channel I was told that this was probably by design, so I decided to file a feature request for it. :-)
I kinda use that sometimes to match someone's nick to the name I known them best by.
Would be great if you had the time to take a look at this...
BTW this is the 3.0 version, but that's version is not yet selectable in the pulldown menu. :-)
Cheers,
Harmen (Murf)

I second that request. Maybe adding a parameter to the command like %setnick which would just be replaced by what the user has been renamed to so that we can use for example nick_format = '[%account]%setnick or something similar.
Yeah, this is more or less by design, nick_format sets the auto-generated nick and any manually-set nick will always override it.
I can see the point for this, but also fear there are some implementation issues here in making it happen. I'll think about it!
