Description

On XMPP, there's the setting $user_agent. I would love to specify this with Twitter, too.

What would be the point of that?

To disable showing information that Twitter and the public don't need to know :)

But that info gets ignored, the "via" string is hardly even shown anymore and based on your OAuth API key. Am I missing something?

Yes, I am talking about the "via" string. It's still in every Status/DM that's posted and accessibly via API, just not the Web interface. It's based on the OAuth application key. And every account owner can generate those.

So what you need to do is alter the OAuth key+secret in protocols/twitter/twitter.c (IIRC), setting the user agent is not helpful at all?
