Description
bit.ly support. This would improve the twitter experience. Bit.ly seems to be the biggest url shortner out there, and is accessible for users both registered and unregisterend users. bit.ly support should include possibility to add you own API key.

Bitlbee is a twitter client, which maks bit.ly support make perfect sense for me.
Thanks for the script but the issue is that I want the statistics offered by having an account and an api key. This is information best stored in bitlbee, and my irc client is not scripting friendly.

Honestly I don't think this belongs in BitlBee. Too much complexity, and anyone who disagrees would probably send in a patch that would do this with blocking I/O which would of course be unacceptable.
So let's just mark it wontfix.
Doesn't make much sense, as it is a client thing.
I've made a script like that for Irssi, which works in any channel (http://polemon.org/isgd.pl).
Adding that kind of support for BitlBee wouldn't make much sense...
