Description
QQ is an im network extremely popular in China; basically nothing else is used there. Presently Pidgin seems to be the only free client with QQ support, but naturally I'd rather be able to use BitlBee (which I have always-connected inside screen) as opposed to some bloated gui app that dies when I log out. So I'm listing QQ support as a wishlist item. That's all. Hope there's some interest in porting the code over from libpurple to BitlBee or using it as a reference to write a new implementation.

libpurple supports QQ, why does bitlbee not support it ?

Because BitlBee and libpurple are two different things.
There's a BitlBee branch that uses libpurple, though. Has anyone tried that one to connect to QQ?

Closing all protocol request tickets.
For most of the requested protocols, it's likely we won't have time and/or interest to implement them, and some tickets have stayed open here for years when they have libpurple implementations, or even as third party plugins. Implementing protocols in the core is far from a priority nowadays, although I hope we can make it easier to write third party plugins. As always, anyone who is interested in implementing bitlbee plugins for these can do so, and we're willing to help (join irc!)
In this particular case, there is a libpurple implementation, see http://wiki.bitlbee.org/HowtoPurple
This is one of the few tickets that actually seems to have a bunch of people interested in the protocol. But yeah - go use libpurple, you all!
