Description
I use Gtalk pretty extensively along with AIM and MSN. Recently I've had a great amount of difficulty using it. I connect with Adium X on my Macbook, bitlbee on an older Dell machine (only a P3 550Mhz) running Ubuntu and occasionally Gmail's Gtalk client. I was getting errors when I couldn't send messages to anyone but could receive them from everyone. Then I noticed that the only times I had this issue is when I used bitlbee during the day. I stopped using talk in bitlbee and I can confirm this is the case.
Gtalk gives me a "Code 500" error. I requested assistance on Google's forums (although I didn't receive any) before I noticed this pattern here: http://groups.google.com/group/Finding-Solutions/browse_thread/thread/7d0fd0761cadbdd6 . Apparently there is a number of connections issue of some sort? I'm not familiar with XMPP so I'm not sure but that's what I get out of that. I am using the version of bitlbee that comes with ubuntu (1.0.1-1) and not the very most recent but I didn't see any ticket for the bug here so I figured that the issue probably still exists.

I have a similar issue and have had for some time. I am using 1.0.3-1.3ubuntu1 (in the feisty repositories) which has the same errors as the previous version.
I will try the latest build if I can get it built (not great with compiling) and report results here. If anyone has a .deb of the latest 1.1dev that'd be great :)

Just reopen this if 1.1dev still has this problem.
Please do try version 1.1dev, since it has a fully rewritten Jabber module. Just connect to testing.bitlbee.org if you don't want to install a new version.
