jabber does not allow spaces in passwords

Description

If a jabber account has spaces in the password it stays stuck at the "Authentication" stage when connecting.

Also it is not clear in the documentation if spaces are allowed at all and what should be the syntax to setup a password containing spaces.

I'm trying this on the public server at im.bitlbee.org, which is running version VERSION BitlBee 3.2.2 Linux/x86_64

but it does not work
