Description

(Note: this is not related to the "off the record" IM encryption aka "OTR"

GoogleTalk users using the Google Mail client can check a "go off the record" box requesting their conversations not be automatically logged to the gmail accounts of both participants:

Support for toggling this in bitlbee would be nice.

Milestone: 1.1

It should be possible to find out the flag for this and add it as a per-account setting.

On http://code.google.com/apis/talk/jep_extensions/extensions.html you can find more information about all Google extensions to the XMPP protocol. It *seems* that logging can also be disabled for the whole account once using another client.

I'm tempted to postpone this stuff a little bit and implement it in my 20% once I start working for Google. ;-)

Milestone: 1.21.2.x

I'm trying out a feature freeze, I only want to fix bugs for the 1.2 release and postpone actual features until a later release.

Resolution: wontfix
Status: newclosed

I don't think this is worth implementing, with hangouts being the primary gtalk client now. It wasn't a particularly exciting feature before either.
