Description
I have many contacts I plan to never message, but don't want to remove in IM services themselves (only BitlBee) because if they ever message me (though unlikely) I may reply. So I used remove command. Every time I restart, or have disconnection & reconnection, they all return, and my contact list is way too long. Remove should permanently remove them, such as adding them to a removed list you can view and readd later. Even block command doesn't even remove them (which would've been an option if added to a block list and hid.)
In another case, slackbot (in Slack IM) spammed me to talk to a new person, then added them to my list. I removed them from my list in Slack but they're still in my list in BitlBee. I know it's Slack's fault (despite incompetent Slack technical support people saying ask third-party IM clients (which just get Slack contact list.)) It would be bad to block them, just they're not really contacts.
I've had the problem of remove/block on FreeBSD Unix, Slackware GNU/Linux, GNU/Linux Mint.
