IRC client+version: | Client-independent | Operating System: | Linux |
OS version/distro: | Debian 7 |
Description
11:44:44 <@username> chat add skype #skypeuser/$skypeid channelname
11:44:44 <@root> Named chatrooms not supported on that account.
This is very bad but internal Skype Chat’s IDs are not good names for channels (in native Skype client it’s replaced by chat topic and don’t displayed directly).
Also in exists Skype conversation replies of chatmembers displayed as private messages (it can be fixed by leaving from the channel and rejoining).
Used a Debian repository with nightly builds, x32.

You can workaround the later by bookmarking the groupchat: if you do that (from the native client), then you have a setting to automatically join those groupchats on startup (see protocols/skype/README).
I'll check how hard it is to support chat add
.

Yes, it’s work.
But, after a user has gone offline, it does not rejoined to the channels of Skype Chats as on the control channels and them’s messages delivered as a private messages.
Also it’s don’t allow change channel names (internal Skype IDs is unusable hashes).

So, IIRC before BitlBee 3.0 it wasn't possible add nicknames for chats, e.g. you always go &chat_001 and so on - in that time having a persistent (bug ugly) channel name (based on the skype hash) was an improvement. Need to re-check if BitlBee now supports more, I guess so.

Yes, but further improvement would be adding the feature to define channel aliases.
The most important bug that users don’t rejoined to Skype Chat’s channels after reconnect. This bug makes Skype Chat’s in BitlBee completely unusable.

You mean that (1) when they reconnect they don't rejoin to your channel, or (2) when you reconnect?
Also, are you interested in hacking a patch to provide this? (The plugin itself is in C.) I can do it myself, but that will take time, it may be way faster if you could make your hands dirty. :-)
Thanks.

Sorry for pushing this ticket, but this is getting bugging me. Is there any solution to make Skype group chats sticky, so bitlbee will rejoin them after an disconnect? Currently all messages from persons in the chat goes to privmsg if bitlbee is connected to skyped again.
For me, only an part/rejoin the group chat with the native client solve does it for me (till the next connection lost). Also adding the group chats to "favorites" or "bookmark" them in the native client, does not help here.

In the irc client ii its impossible to join a skype groupchat because of the / so yeah it would really be nice with a renaming function.
