#649 closed enhancement (wontfix)
IRC Actions should be sent as "*blah*" rather than "/me blah" on protocols that don't support them.

Description
"/me blah" appearing in MSN can be confusing to someone that solely uses MSN. It would be nice to have them show up as "*blah*" or similar which seems to be the convention on these more primitive protocols :)
If I do a patch, it'll be a straight conversion rather than anything fancy with an option, etc.

I'd prefer a setting for this since there are also IM clients that render strings starting with /me "properly". :-/
I can accept patches against 1.2.7 BTW, but that codebase is a dead end, most likely 1.2.8 was the last release from that branch. ui-fix is the new hotness.

Yeah, this one isn't happening. I wouldn't mind a patch for a per-account setting either but i'd rather have less tickets open.
Very simple patch against 1.2.7 to change the way actions appear. More to follow.
