Description
BitlBee currently doesn't conform to RFC 6120, as it doesn't support the mandatory SCRAM-SHA-1 and SCRAM-SHA-1-PLUS SASL mechanisms for XMPP (as defined in section 13.8). This means BitlBee is not be able to connect to XMPP servers, which only support these SASL mechanisms. Please add support for them.

But unfortunately BitlBee has no active maintainer right now. It's sad to see the Jabber module (the last useful non-purple one at this point probably) rot away but I've not written any C in close enough to 10y that it'd take me way too much time to give this a shot. :(
